Remembrance Sunday 2018

On the 11th hour of the 11th month 1918 the Armistice between the Allies and Germany came into operation thus ending World War 1.

100 years late, the centenary has been marked with ceremonies all over the United Kingdom including Lochwinnoch.

On 11th November 2018 I was invited to lay a wreath at the Memorial to those lost during World War !! in the Parish Church prior to the two-minutes silence tribute at the cenotaph opposite. I also gave a short talk about my father’s connection with the Regiment during a combined service at Calder United Free Church.

The events were very well attended by local residents. Boys Brigade and Girls Brigade members were led by their colour parties and a lone piper played a moving lament.
